Goodbye Ordinary

I will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us. Isaiah 63:7

Jesus, Draw Me Ever Nearer May 19, 2010

There is a beautiful song that I have been listening to lately that has spoken to my heart.  It is written by Margaret Becker, music by Keith Getty and I listen to it on an album by Keith and Kristyn Getty called “In Christ Alone”.  You can download their album at their website.  They have really thoughtful, beautiful worship songs that point you straight to the Lord.  I highly recommend them.

This particular song puts to words the truth I feel in my soul about how God uses trials in our lives.  These trials of life are not just pain and sorrow, they allow us a special glimpse and touch of our Savior and loving Father.  They work things in our character that are beautiful before the Lord.  Trials are blessings.  I know that doesn’t mesh with what we naturally want to believe.  The things of the Lord do not always make sense in human terms.  Here is the song:

Jesus, Draw Me Ever Nearer
Words by Margaret Becker, music by Keith Getty

Jesus, draw me ever nearer
as I labor through the storm.
You have called me to this passage
and I’ll follow though I’m worn.

May this journey bring a blessing,
may I rise on wings of faith;
and at the end of my heart’s testing,
with Your likeness let me wake.

Jesus, guide me through the tempest,
keep my spirit staid and sure,
When the midnight meets the morning,
let me love You even more.

May this journey bring a blessing,
may I rise on wings of faith;
and at the end of my heart’s testing,
with Your likeness let me wake.

May the treasures of the trial
form within me as I go.
And at the end of this long passage,
let me leave them at Your throne.

May this journey bring a blessing,
may I rise on wings of faith;
and at the end of my heart’s testing,
with Your likeness let me wake.

May these truths encourage you wherever you are in life’s journey.
