Goodbye Ordinary

I will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us. Isaiah 63:7

We Will Soon Be On Our Way! February 18, 2011

Filed under: Adoption,India — Lori @ 1:16 pm

We had been told by our adoption agency that once things move with the orphanage we are working with – they fly!  They were not exagerating!!

We heard on February 15, 2011 that we are the legal guardians of Levi Sangeet.  We have waited for more than a year to hear that news!  We were also told that we could be in Delhi to pick him up as soon as March 7.  Yikes!  Because a necessary person in India would be out of town after that date, if we couldn’t get there by the 7th, we would have had to wait until the end of March.

Kevin and I talked about it and prayed HARD and we both felt like if we could get flights for a good price and hotel reservations that we should push to head to India and pick up Levi on March 7.   After all this waiting, we just couldn’t stomach waiting longer than necessary. 🙂

My heart is racing and my stomach is churning with all that I need to prepare!!  However, we got great flights at wonderful prices and already have hotel rooms booked.  We are so thrilled that we can spend four days in London on our way.  Kevin and I had talked about making this a special early (September) 25th wedding anniversary vacation as we won’t have the opportunity to do something like this for some time.  Well, we probably never would have made it to London! Anyone with inside information on sites we just have to see while we are there please send them along!

 So, we will be heading out on March 1 for London.  Although this is going to be a push to get everything together and ready for this trip, our hearts are so anxious to meet Levi and make him a part of our family.

Whew!  I feel like I have the hard part taken care of, now there are just a thousand details to attend to.  My mind is racing.

Please pray for:

*Our visas to get processed and returned quickly.  Our application has been received and they are working on it.  Our passports are in that package so getting this all back in one piece is VERY important!!

*Kalindi and Kira may have a hard time with us leaving/being gone.  They are already talking about how much they will miss us and there have been some tears from Kira.  It will help that Grandma will be taking care of them!  Kalindi has also made comments about us needing to spend extra time and attention on Levi when he is home.  Although she understands this, I have a feeling it may be hard and we will have to be conscientious in giving the girls as much attention as we can when we return.

*Please pray that all of our flights will be on schedule and the airlines will keep track of all our bags.   Please also pray that there will be no surprises when we arrive with our hotel reservations.  Especially pray that the hotel has a driver waiting for us when we get to Delhi.

*Pray for Levi’s heart to be ready for us.  We will meet him on March 7 (your night of March 6) and we will take him with us that day.  We will have a medical appointment including a TB test that must be checked in 48 hours.  We will also have two appointments at the U.S. Embassy to apply for and pick up Levi’s visa.  Pray that all the necessary paperwork will be where it should be, when it should be.  Any hold-ups could be a nightmare if we need to change our flight home.

*Pray that I will remember everything that I need to as we pack and that Kevin and I will get the sleep we need before we leave.

*Pray for peace and no terrorist incidents in the countries or airports we will be going through.

That’s all for now.  I will update when possible.

 Psalm 89:1-2

I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever;
   with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;
   in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”

I have shared about Karyn Purvis and her wonderful book entitled, The Connected Child, one of the best recources on parenting a child who has come from tough circumstances.  The website, Empowered to Connect, is a must see if you are an adoptive or foster parent.

Please check out some information on a couple of upcoming conferences being put on by Empowered to Connect at A Bushel and a Peck website.  She is also having a drawing for a give-away of an Empowered to Connect DVD.

Have a great weekend.   ~Lori
